Dr. David Shanley

Dr. Shanley earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver, Graduate School of Professional Psychology in 2013. He utilizes evidence-based therapeutic and cognitive rehabilitation, based on best practice standards, interventions to help individuals and families who are struggling with acquired brain injury, anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep disturbance, mood swings, relationship difficulties, pain, and stress.

Dr. Shanley considers himself a behaviorist, and often draws on methods from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a type of Cognitive-Behavioral therapy that emphasizes mindfulness, acceptance, and taking committed action toward one’s values. The goal is to help clients clarify the life they want and figure out how to take meaningful steps in that direction, while coping with painful thoughts, feelings, and memories in different ways. Cognitive rehabilitation aims to improve and/or accommodate challenges stemming from brain injury, e.g., attention, executive function, and memory strategy training.

Before working with Colorado Neuropsychology Services, LLC, Dr. Shanley worked with young adults at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and the University of Denver. He also currently works with individuals in crisis at the Jefferson Center for Mental Health.
